Allen and Andrea Probus make up Probus Strings.
Allen Probus has been a cellist in the Kansas City Symphony since 2002. He holds a masterís degree with the Cleveland Institute of Music, having studied with Stephen Geber, former principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra. While in Cleveland, Allen was also principal cellist of the Canton Symphony Orchestra and acting assistant principal of the Akron Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra and has toured Europe and the Far East with the Detroit and Pittsburgh Symphonies. Past summer festival engagements have included the Eastern Music Festival, Grand Teton Music Festival, Spoleto USA, Blossom Music Festival, and the National Repertory Orchestra. Allen maintains a full private studio and is a faculty member of the Sforzando String Camp in Chicago. Currently, he also plays with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra and is a founding member of CelloRondo, a Kansas City-based cello quartet.
- Andrea holds a bachelor's degree in violin performance from Bob Jones University. She is a member of the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra and performs frequently with the Kansas City Symphony. Before moving to Kansas City, Andrea was concertmistress of the Cleveland Women's Orchestra and performed with the Akron and Canton Symphonies. She has studied string pedagogy under Mimi Zweig and Alice Joy Lewis. Andrea is also a faculty member of the Sforzando String Camp in Chicago.
